Happy Birthday!

Another early birthday cheer! Since I will be tied up in meetings tomorrow, I wanted to wish Miss J. a very happy birthday for tomorrow....I was afraid I might forget! It will be wonderful to have you in class this year! Happy Birthday! Hope you had a fun trip!

Check it out!

For those of you who would like to check out our classroom before school starts, you are more than welcome to drop by on Friday. I do have a meeting in the morning but should be done before 10:00 a.m. If you come by and I'm not available, go ahead and check out the room. Please leave me a note on the front white boards so I will know you were there. Our room is #8 across from the library and girls bathroom. You do not have to stop by...since I will still be doing a bit of work, it will be VERY casual for those who do. I will be gone all day tomorrow attending science meetings. See you soon!

Science is unpacked and organized!

This year we have a new science curriculum. I finished unpacking it today and am VERY excited for us to begin science! We will start with physical science (Levers and Pulleys). You can check out the publication company's website at www.fossweb.com/modules3-6/index.html click on "Levers and Pulleys" for an overview of our upcoming unit. Check it out with a parent because you may need some help getting some of the things to work. I was able to successfully build a Rube Goldberg machine:) The pulley part is tricky...when you click reset all your changes are saved except for the pulley part. Fun times!

Class Supplies

Below are the directions to find this years class supply list...if you have any trouble finding something, let me know. I have started browsing the stores to begin a stock pile for those hard to find items! We use the color folders to organize for each subject so we really won't use any fancy ones. Make sure your folders have fasteners AND pockets...these kind sometimes get mixed in with the ones with just fasteners or just pockets. If you have trouble finding affordable pocket dividers for your binder, let me know because I usually order some from the district warehouse and can always get extra. If buying supplies places a financial burden on your family, please e-mail me because I really do keep extra items for just that reason. It is VERY helpful to have your supplies ON the first day of school because we spend part of the day organizing our things. If you really want to make me happy, sharpen your pencils BEFORE you bring them to school:)))) Woo hoo!

Directions for finding the supply list...
Go to
http://www.d91.k12.id.us/
Click on "School Information" on the left hand side
Click on "Elementary Schools"
Click on "Longfellow"
Click on "Supply list for 2009-2010"

I have our room arranged and organized...I will be in this coming week to organize one more cupboard and get our beginning math lessons ready. Fun times!
